Foundation New Zealand Mare Lines

We started our business back in 1995 with a number of well-performed and bred New Zealand sport horse mares. Many had competed at A grade (Grand Prix) level. Most of these mares came from New Zealand thoroughbred stock although a number came from an early New Zealand sport horse line known as Gisborne-bred.

Twelve of these mares have produced progeny of sufficient quality to have their daughters and grand-daughters remain in the broodmare herd. These twelve are our Foundation New Zealand Mares.

In 2004 the first of our imported Selle Francais fillies produced foals and since that time four Selle Francais mares have produced foals with imported semen. The progeny of these mares are some of our best young talent and they are 100% European warmblood. These lines of European (largely, but not exclusively Selle Francais) warmblood horses bred in New Zealand will go on to leave an indelible mark on New Zealand sport horse breeding.

But for those people interested in the development of modern New Zealand sport horse breeding lines we have laid out below the breeding lines of the twelve original New Zealand-bred mares. We will continue to update these breeding lines each year. As our business grows, and our horses spread around the world, we all be able to trace these horses back to the original twelve.
