Horse Sales

All NZPH horses in competition and young horses are for sale.

When horses are around three and half years of age the nine NZPH rider-partners take a share in the horse and the responsibility for training and competing.

Warm-blood sport horses mature more slowly than thoroughbred horses. In many instances these horses do not fully develop their strength, balance and competitive temperament until they are six or seven years of age.

Most sales of NZPH horses occur when the horses are five years of age or older.

The value of young horses is determined by breeding, performance history/age and ‘fit’ or the suitability of the horse to a particular discipline or rider. Size, conformation and distinction are also important contributors to the value of a sport horse.

X-rays are taken of all horses at an early age and are available for potential purchasers to view and keep if they purchase the horse.

For each horse we give you the information we think will be useful for you to have as you think about whether the horse might be right for you. For each horse you will find information on colour, size, gender, breeding, performance history and a comment from the rider. We have included a number of photos and in most cases video of the horse competing.

Usually potential buyers will want to see and ride the horse in question and we are pleased to arrange this. Our riders understand their horses well and they will be important sources of information for you about the horse. They will be pleased to advise and discuss the horse with you.
